ohhhh many more buzzwords... I'm kind of hesitant about the thumb scroll wheel. But then again I am more of a gamer so I don't see a whole lot of a application for it (I don't do many things where I need to scroll horizontally). But all the reviews I've heard about it have been really good. I like the design that logitech uses, it fits perfectly into my hand.
Have it - works great - thumb scroll doesn't get in the way for gameing.
I love this mouse!!! Get it.
Rechargeable batteries is the key for me.
It's really nice mouse. Long lasting batteries.
great mouse, don't use thumb wheel much, but the other buttons are great, and completely programmable with the uberoptions freeware. highly recommended.
Great mouse. One of the greatest consternations in my life is that fact that I cannot find one of them....
OK - it's not that bad. I mean, war, famine, stuff like that are a bit higher on the consternation hierarchy. But that doesn't mean it's not frustrating! Because it is a really, really nice mouse.
The "thumb scroll" isn't really a scroll wheel - more like a rocker switch. I don't find it particularly useful... but the rest of the mouse is rock-solid. $50 is a great price, I'd highly recommend it.
Highly Recommend...A+!!
I don't know how I ever lived without the free-spinning scroll wheel. It was like a revelation the first time I tried it on a Logitech mouse.
best mouse i've ever had. i haven't seen the price this low since i picked it up last black friday.
I also picked one up last BF. Great mouse in general, but a little sluggish for fast twitch games. I do significantly better with my MX-518 on Call of Duty 4.
Battery lasts a good while between charges.
I used the Logitech utility to disable the thumb scroll. The only time I ever used it was when I accidentally hit it, and then I was WTF happened?
However, in the past month, my mouse has begun loosing its connection to the dongle. I do not know if this is due to a driver conflict (I've reloaded the driver with the latest patch) or conflict from a new wireless device (I haven't recently bought any wireless devices). I've positioned the dongle within a foot of the mouse and it is still not staying connected.
This doesn't happen frequently, but it is irritating to have to find a spare mouse to run the re-connect utility every couple days. There should be a button on the mouse/dongle to trigger reconnecting.
I'm thinking about this one and VX. Is the MX really worth the extra money? And how big they are compared with G5?(G5 is a little bit big for me)
For best use, you'll probably want to get the uberOptions drivers. For example, by default the middle click switches between ratchet and smooth scroll modes. I usually remap the mouse's search button to do this because I still need middle click. As for the thumb wheel, you could probably remap it to keys that would be useful in gaming, such as reloading ammo, use item, etc.
The main gripe I've heard about this mouse is the rubber on the scroll wheel. I guess depending on how you use the scroll wheel over time, the rubber can get a tad loose, causing it to rub against the bottom of the scroll wheel housing and killing the smooth scroll ability. Removing the rubber with an exacto knife seems to be a common solution.
The VX Revolution is also very nice. It's small enough to carry around with a laptop, but big enough to not cramp your hand with prolonged use. Note that with the VX you have to manually switch scroll modes using a switch on the bottom of the mouse.
MX is a great mouse. Only thing is it is not very portable. It has nowhere to stow the usb connector incase you need to transport your laptop.
Otherwise it is fully customizable and very accurate. Battery lasts so long on single charge that I dont ever turn it off. Theres even a battery meter on the mouse so you don't even need the software installed. Very fitting and comfortable. Size is average for a mouse except that there are 2 protruding parts. This is a great price as I bought it for $100 something when it first came out - still looks and works brand new.
This is a great mouse at a great price, too bad I don't use mine anymore (prefer the touchpad on my new Macbook).
Suckers.
#13: I think this is actually a little bit bigger than the G5
Great mouse. audible click has been getting to me recently, but is not bad. Fully programable buttons and scrollers are nice.
#16 a touchpad over a mouse? you have to be kidding me!
