You can get a whole computer for about $200 but a mouse is $50? Where is the logic of that?
the logic is in Logitech. Anyone buying a $200 computer wouldn't care about much of anything of quality. Logitech just came out with their new replacement for this one, it's called "Performance MX" check it out, it's sessy.
The MX revolution is a nice mouse. I love the scroll wheel, except that it doesn't work as a middle-click, which I use very often in Firefox. Also, despite its appearance of being large, it wasn't particularly comfortable to me. I'm now using the "Microsoft Natural Wireless Laser Mouse 6000", which is a little more comfortable to me, and similarly priced. My girlfriend now has my MX revolution, and she likes it.
PS: And the computer I'm currently using with it would easily be outperformed by any new $200 computer. I don't see the logic in comparing the cost of a low-end computer to the cost of a high-end mouse.

#3, you can set the middle click to work in the setpoint software that the mouse comes with. I had that problem too, for a long while.
This mouse is really nice. Even though it's not advertised as a gaming mouse, it works fine for that purpose, at least for me. I don't need any fancy dpi's or anything, and the middle scroll wheel is really, really nice. The search button, not so much, I don't really use it, but I can map it to something else if I need to.
Look for UberOptions to get more features from this mouse.
#4, 5: I did use UberOptions to remap the mouse buttons to the way I wanted, but I didn't want to give up the smooth/clicky shift function of clicking the scroll wheel, and the scroll wheel is not easy to click (especially if you do lots of middle-clicking), so I mapped the button behind the scroll wheel as middle-click, but that was very awkward.
So, yes, technically the wheel "can" be used for middle-click, but in my opinion the mouse does not have adequate middle-click functionality for my use. Of course, people who don't middle-click would never notice.

I used an MX1000 for years and loved it. Replaced it with the MX Revolution. I like the Revolution but gotta say that the MX 1000 was better.
its a great mouse
no thanks
