Got one of these last week and wanted to post some things that I did not know at the time.
These things have a battery that is supposed to be inaccesible to the consumer. You can get it to it a replace but it is a big hassle. We're talking trying to find the correct battery from a manufacturer and then tearing the thing apart and then soldering in a new battery. It will still work on the AC adapter but once your battery has done it's X amount of charge cycles, that's it.
Also, this unit sounds good, it really does but if you want something that you can really crank up, this isn't it. Once you get to a certain volume level, the sound just starts clipping until you turn it back down. Not a huge deal but if you don't have all the songs in your MP3 player set at the same level (e like when you have your TV on at a regular volume and then a commercial comes on that sounds about twice as loud) the one song will play normally then the next starts clipping, etc, etc. Seems like you have to constantly be screwing with the volume.
Lastly, this DOES charge and control an iPhone 3GS without any nag screens coming up.
