Newegg has the Logitech S520 Cordless Desktop for $25 with free shipping. Features programmable keys, cordless laser mouse, low battery indicators, 0 degree tilt and low-profile keys.
A friend of mine has this desktop and quite likes it. Newegg raters give it four stars and usually say they think it is great for the price. #1 just likes to spout BS?
The range on this is usually up to 10', only less if you have a lot of RF noise in the vicinity or the receiver is poorly located (near metal).
The keyboard keys are a bit rodeo cowboy, what were they thinking putting special function keys between the palm rest and the full sized keys?
Also the key travel is a bit short and mushy, but maybe you'll prefer that if you use a laptop more than a desktop.
IMO the mouse slopes downward too much in the front, better used when your mousing surface is lower than it'd typically be on a desk. You ought to try one at a B&M before settling on this shape.
This set absolutely SUCKS. You'd be better off scratching the letters onto your screen with your fingernail than buying this set.

Good price on nice hardware. #1 is clearly not at work, unless he works in a sewer.
This set works great. Not ideal for gaming since the mouse doesn't have extra buttons.
I agree with #1. I had this set before and the mouse/keyboard had to be within a foot or 2 of the receiver. Would no recommend.

Agree with #6 on the mushy key feel. Overall not bad though. I never use the "special" keys.
Not the greatest combo but it should work well for most of the people. I have no complain @ $25 price tag....
