How is this supposed to compare against an 8GB iPod Touch plus a dock? You can generally (not right now, though) get a refurb 3rd gen for $150.
better DAC and you can plug an external drive into its usb port
but yes, if you have a mediocre stereo or are completely happy listening to mp3 quality files then no, can't see why you'd get this over an ipod.
I'm assuming you can stream FLACs from your pc/mac to the ipod of course, otherwise that's another way this is better

Dude, if you are even comparing this to an Ipod setup it's not for you. Ipod's sound like shatiki mushrooms even through headphones. The squeezebox touch is about as good as it gets next to the logitech Transporter ofcourse.
