Logitech has the Logitech Transporter SE: Network Music Player for $1300 - $300 off with coupon code logi_tse_11411 [Exp 11/7] = $1000 with free shipping. Features dual fluorescent displays, backlit infrared remote and support for rack mount brackets.
Very good deal. Paid $2,000 for it two years ago but has the center knob. Essentially the same thing. Sounds great but you have to have good speakers and audio gear to hear the difference. It you are happy with MP3, don't bother with this but if you have developed an ear for true Hi Fi then this is for you.

Actually a $50 USB DAC can equal the audio performance (via blind ABX tests, on paper people make up all sorts of falsehoods out of context) the price for this is due to the other fancy features that have nothing to do with fidelity, and of course if something is "audiophile" it HAS to cost a lot (it's a rule).
Check out Schitt Audio as well as emotiva. Direct sales no middle men and you get actual decent equipment for a good price.
I think the cheaper squeezebox from Logitech sounds the same as this device. The squeezbox software is glitchy. And I always have trouble with these products and networking.
Haven't had any issues with squeezebox software for at least 3 years now. The earlier versions were buggy, but they are still cranking out the software updates that work even with my 5 year old Classic now.
Ok someone....tell me who in the world buys this for $1000!
The same people who spend $150,000 on a OneDof turntable
I approve of the AK4396.
Same people that spend 170 bucks on a Dyson fan to avoid that annoying buffeting.
that dyson fan has a good analog/digital converter.

So the answer comes.#6 wins the biggest goober award for paying 2000 for this.

OTOH itunes and networking never cause problems.
