These are absolutely worth ever $. I have a pair of the x230's which are the same with out the extra 2 speakers and they sound great.

How do they sound next to the Z series? I've been eyeing the Z-5500, but missed the great deal earlier this year... don't feel like coughing up US$400 for speakers right now.

The common conclusion of online reviews is clear base, crisp highs, and clean sound for the under $100 price-point.

Thanks for the summary. Now, I'm off to buy a set from Dell for my Intel-powered Mac, while calculating the frequency response with my HP 48GX.
