Are these any good? I have never owned a respectable audio system so I have no standard to measure by.

i returned a set of these due to horrific hissing noises while no sound was playing. the hissing continued during audio playback as well. unusable. i may have got a dud.

Mine are great.

Not top of the line and PC surround systems are generally overpriced since they're usually flimzy plastic. But these are worth it at this price.

Of course these are refub so who knows what you're getting.

Where does it say refurb? I was just looking at it when I noticed a reviewer said they were but then I noticed his review is old. Are these refurbished?

I wouldn't get anything electronic wise from midnightbox that is re certified. I got this system from newegg with a promotional rebate last year for around $60. Hold out logitech always releases rebates of some of their inventory every month or so.
