that's an awful lot of money for something that's going to fall apart in 3 months and is non-upgradeable

some people forget that many of the first personal computer viruses were on Apple products...

But then Microsoft came along and just made it too easy

I can honestly say that I don't have the crashy virus problems people are always saying about XP. No, it's not super pretty and doesn't have a lot of the Mac OSX ergonomics but it pretty much just works. I might get a crash every few months but it's usually because I'm installing some quirky driver or doing something else extraordinary. People act like XP is win98 (which would crash daily or at least require a reboot).

I don't really give a damn about pretty unless it actually makes me more productive. No one has ever given me an argument on how OSX would actually make me work smarter. Pretty is nice but it's not enough to give me a reason to pay more and go through the learning curve.

BTW, I am a unix geek and love using Linux as a server. I would love it if EVERYONE used OSX and it was the standard but where I work it's a Windows world. I don't feel the need to be make a statement with the OS I use. To me, it's a tool that helps me bring money home.

#6 - its not the software's fault... 100% of the time the problem is between the keyboard and the chair.

back on topic now... this laptop was $3k new... and its cool... but unless you really wanted one and had a decent excuse to use it, its totally not worth it.

I just don't understand why many Mac users state "Mac is much safer than Windows PC." They should realize that Mac is not popular; therefore, not so many virus were made for OSX yet.
Since Mac gave up PowerPC, there is no reason to spend more money to buy Mac. (There are many Hackintoshs for less.)

That's because Mac users can't figure out how to turn it on.

Pretty ballsy move by Apple, branching out from MP3 players to make computers.

#8, you're right Macs aren't targeted by viruses much, but that validates the sentiment that they are safer, same as with 'nix or any other non-windows OS.
