Do any of these have (what I call) map view? By that I mean the ability to get a "from the air" look like looking at a map. Some way to see the road you are on and near by roads and how they are connected.
We were driving through WV with my son's garmin. Up ahead we saw an accident happen that closed the road right before our eyes. We did a U turn and tried to find a road that paralled the blocked road. His garmin kept forcing us back to the closed road.
I got out my 2002 version Dell Pocket PC with Mapoplois (long out of business) maps on it. Using the map view mode I found a few roads that took us around the accident.
I had a similar situation in Erie PA when the area got hit by an ice storm. Thruway closed, roads blocked with traffic, traffic lights out. I routed us through back alleys and side streets to get through Erie.
So, Map View on any of these?
Thanks
Pete
I will have to look at my TomTom again but I know it allows you to view a top view of the route it is taking you. I am not sure how detailed it is though and if you can see all the roads and their names.
