    These are almost as obsolete as answering machines. My phone can do the same thing - the maps aren't as accurate but it's a trade off.

    I think these companies missed a huge opportunity, the GPS companies would have partnered with Sirus and had satellite radio along with GPS capabilities. A useful machine.

    I use the Magellan app on my iPhone. It takes advantage of the iPhone 4's fast CPU and high resolution graphics, as well as the data connectivity. Unlike all other standalone GPS units I've tried, the live traffic feature is really well done and useful: it has actually saved me time repeatedly by suggesting alternate routes during rush hour.

    I would not use satellite radio at all, there are enough radio stations everywhere

    Satellite radio offers a huge selection of music and talk channels with nationwide coverage and limited to no commercials. If you like some of their exclusive programming (Howard Stern) or travel long distances, it's a no brainer. If you sit in your room listening to top 40 stations and don't mind 25 minutes of commercials per hour, satellite radio is not for you.
