This was 40 bucks at Amazon 3 weeks ago. No joke. This is not that great a deal.

In fact, when compared to this hand truck:
    http://www.amazon.com/Magna-Cart-Personal-Hand-Truck/dp/B000HVVSDU/ref=pd_sbs_sg_1
by the same manufacturer, you are getting less for your money.

The 30 dollar one has a 150 lb capacity. The 55 dollar one has a 200 lb capacity.

The Elite 2 holds only 33% more than the regular one, yet costs 83% more.

#1, could you have seen the regular 150 lb. Magna Cart for $40? You can find that model on sale for $30.81, now.

I have one of that lighter model ($25 at BJ's Club). It's great, though. Small, light, portable but still pretty tough and useful.

The Elite 2 should be even better (can handle more cases of beer).

#2, I remember having both models open on browser windows to compare. In fact, i bought the cheaper one, which was $30 or so.

Thanks for the useful analysis #1.

    Pondering upon this some more...

If I have a 175lb wooden item to transport, I will have to buy two $30 dollar ones which would represent a $5 increase over the Elite 2, even if I don't count the cost of the chainsaw which will be needed to cut the item in half.
Amazon has the Poulan Pro 400E chainsaw for a mere $94.82.
Upon arrival at my destination, I will need a hammer, nails and some wood glue to attempt get what used to be a highly detailed 20:1 scale model of the schooner America back into some sort of shape.
I already had the hammer, nails and glue, so I won't factor them into the financial equation, but I will have to add my lost wages during the reconstruction period, which lasted for 3 months. I took a leave of absence from my job as evening shift manager of my local Arbys. This cost me $6,840.57 in lost earnings (before taxes). I also had to pay for my dinners during that period as normally I would make myself 3 delicious Bacon Cheddar Roastburgers each night for free! On Sundays, I would sometimes switch to an Arbys Melt Sandwich, but I always go back to the Bacon Cheddar Roastburgers in the end. On the bright side, I did save myself the cost of riding on the Cedar Rapids bus route 3. This is normally accomplished by using a 10-ride pass @ $1.25 per ride. During the reconstruction, I saved on personal hygiene products as I rarely showered.

Now to cut a long story short, I have decided it is uneconomic to buy the small one.

So thanks again #1 for your help.

Costco regularly has the small one for $20. I got mine for $17 a few weeks ago, in some surprise instant rebate. At this price, if a 200-lb load comes along, I may just overload it and see what happens.

I agree #1--for a lightweight folding hand truck, the cheaper one is good deal.

    Only $28k a year?

That's barely enough to cover the medical bills for treating the ulcers from 1. Being a manager at Arby's and 2. Eating at Arby's.

I think #4 is trying to relate his hypothetical story to the time he tried to combine 2 30" Waist pairs of jeans on clearance together into one pair to accomodate for his 50" Waist in order to save some $. When it was all said and done, it would have just been easier to buy the size he needed without all the hassle.

The good thing is he has learned from his failed trial, and now can relate it to similar situations in everyday life, while providing useful advice for others. Thanks #4 for your perspective.

I bought the smaller Costco one, freakin great. It's back at $16 again, no coupon.
