I've installed quite a few different DTV converters. My advice, if you have a government coupon, use it on a quality receiver. I recommend the "dtv pal" converter by Dish Network. (no monthly fees. I don't endorse Dish Network.) It has one of the BEST channel guides. It has a week in advance program guide to see what is coming up. (kinda like the dish service offers to DBS users) Anyhow they are hard to find but look around it is worth the time!

The RCA unit is the best one I've found.

Reason: comes with a universal remote.

You can fully control the box and also the sound level for the tv from the supplied remote.

Every other unit I've seen only controls the box; forcing you to have a second remote to adjust the sound level...blows!

I need one that runs on 12 volts. I want it for the TV in my van. Do any of these use a 120V to 12vdc wall wort?

Target sells one that has a power brick. Not sure if it's 12v or not, but it's worth a look.

Petejc, i will call you a burp just on principal. But go over to www.kipkay.com he shows how to modify an RCA for 12V as they all run on 12v and have converters built in, or external.

    So get some....thank me later
