I bought one of these the last time Meritline was promoting it. It seems to work okay. It should come in handy if I happen to have it with me when I'm in an area where matches don't exist.

My kids liked it when I used this, but I can't imagine a world where I'll actually need it. I have a supply of matches and lighters.

Great survival tool to have just in case. My 7 year old son started a fire with this in 5 Minutes. I was really impressed!

this is awesome. let's just say the apocalypse happens. you get to have perhaps the greatest discovery of mankind (besides the wheel) at your fingertips, for less than $2. it will keep you warm, it will cook your food, it will light your way, and if you get creative and build spears you can set your enemies (aka zombies) on fire with this. i'm sold.

I just saw on a survivor TV program that you can use a 9 volt battery and some steel wool to start a fire.
