The price seems pretty good for this set. I recently purchased the 10.8v version and so far so good. I'm tempting to get this kit and return the other one. However, I only use it for home and maybe occasionally small projects. I'm not sure if I want to spend another $50 for the bigger kit.
I'm struggling if I should get this. I got the 10.8v version for $139 + tax on Home Depot. This is a good price to get but I'm not sure if I need the bigger set just for home use and small projects around home. What do you guys think?
I own this set. Bought it a year ago BF. Hands down the best drill I have ever owned. Incredibly lightweight, which puts my old drills to shame. Not sure how I ever went without a Li-ion before this. Holds a decent charge....and on top of that it comes with 2 Li-Ion batteries which recharge in about 15 minutes flat.
Ratcheting chuck also is nice for strong gripping of bits.
Have been using this (heavy duty use - home remodels) for year plus, and has been great.
A friend has this, I used it extensively two years ago. It's startlingly powerful, and being Makita, you know your kids will be inheriting it. Same friend also has a few old 7.2 and 9.6-volt Ni-Cd Makita drills that his dad used. He's got newish batteries for 'em, and we put different bits in each drill so we didn't have to swap anything for the whole project.
If I didn't already have a pile of comparable tools on a different system, I'd be in for one.

best deal i've seen so far plus it's 18v...just bought the set!
Yeah, really tempting I must admit, I think these batteries are the smaller version. They weigh less but don't hold a charge for very long.
I broke down and bought it. Damn u Ben.
lol, only took less than 12 minutes to break down, huh?
Better than the Homedepot BF deal $199, Amazon saves me $30...
