ZipZoomFly has the Masscool 8WT15-38 Aluminum Intel CPU Cooler for $15 - $10 rebate [Exp 4/30] = $5 with free shipping. Works with Celeron D, Core 2, and Pentium D processors. Noise level is rated to be around 30 dBA.
This CPU cooler has a mounting bracket which can be removed to use on the the stock Intel heatsink which is well worth the $5. geeks.com sell the same item for $7 without the rebate but the shipping is not free.
#4, when you say mounting bracket, are you talking about the mounting screws? I certainly could use the screws like those for E5200 which has push-pull(?) type screws.
He means socket I think, it works on 775's it is better than the oem sink for the 5200 but if you aren't OCing it won't matter that chip stays cool don't be fooled by faulty temp sensors on earlier ver. You know you can get VT with your 5200 now, right???
#6, my problem is Dell Inspiron 537 heatsink uses regular screws like the ones on this cooler while E5200 uses push-pull(?) type screws. Wondering if I can take out the screws from this cooler and use them in the E5200 stock heatsink. Would have taken a chance on this, but the 30 db noise turns me off.
Yes, I know about VT no longer requires cpu support, but that is a moot point as this is winxp system. Thanks for the response.
Note: Got the E5200 because several posters said they just "dropped" in to replace Celeron 450 in Inspiron 537, and Amazon (TigerDirect) had it for $43.
I doubt this is worth $5.
30 dBA? That would hurt my ears. (I run my computer without a cover)
Looks like a BBQ.
