Anyone got one of these? I have an old MediaGate MG35 that I've been 85% happy with the last 5 years. An update to HDMI and HiDef would be good.

... doesn't seem to have (I could be wrong)
    a) networking
    b) x.264 playback
    c) mkv playback
    d) hidef content playback (yes, it upscales, but existing hidef content will need to be transcoded to DVD or lower resolution for playback

    Comments?

Ben, it's "an HTPC", not "a HTPC".

    #4 First, it's "you're" not "your".

Second, given that phonology is not your strong suit, I'll try and explain: in many languages, including English, certain letters, though consonants, behave like vowels when spoken. So the letter H is pronounced "aych" which means it actually begins, phonologically, with an A. Go figure.

Others? An R. An X. An F. Etc.

#7, thank you for the info. I've always wondered about that and never found time to search for the answer.

Although #7 is correct (s)he is still a "grammar police" thumbplum. These people have nothing constructive to contribute. Go back to counting beans, drone.

I checked past posts by "the pod": about 25% were useful, 75% were silly to some degree - about par for the average BB's poster. Since your comment that "These people have nothing constructive to contribute" is factually incorrect, you should go sit on a soldering iron and STFU. Have a nice day.

#13 ...but you commented on my comment, making you as bad as me.

Just as I am as bad as you, by commenting on your comment about my comment (and so on... see what we've created!)

What really matters, is this media player won't play Ogg Theora, rendering it as useful as a doorstop.

#7, you committed grammatical errors yourself, so don't pretend your high school education was better than Muskie's.

I'll start by commenting on your lack of punctuation skills. When typing, two spaces need to exist after a period, not one. Second, "#4 First" should read "#4 first." Additionally, in American English, commas and periods should precede closing quotation marks; "'your'." should read "'your.'."

Granted, Muskie may be slightly retarded, but let's not get ahead of ourselves. Don't correct someone unless you can do it correctly.

#12 is another thumbplum who has the time to run a statistical analysis on a Ben's poster. My #11 state applies there as well. Come to think of it.. it applies to me as well so, burp off!

BTW, no one even mentioned that this thing has no Ethernet port!!! It would have been interesting 5 years ago.

Thanks #15. I stand corrected. I don't agree with all of your comments (in particular the capitalization of "first") but I suspected my message was rife with errors, and someone greater than me would spot them. Smile Are you available for professional mcornholiocript editing? You could probably bring in...I dunno...maybe $2-$3 per page? Easy money with your skills.

(WTF...I typed "man u script" and look what happened to it. AHHHH...the filter didn't like the a n u s!!!!!)
