I got a laptop hooked to the VGA port on my HDTV and it looks really sharp. Of course, it plays everything and can be used to surf the interwebs. I also got an appleTV on another one. Those things go for $150 and are almost as useful as the laptop but dumbed down for kids and wives.
Design wise looks the best out of all of them, too bad no MKV support that i can tell. Firmware upgrade in the future...bacons a got HDMi port.
Don't ever count on future firmware. These little dinky brands usually abandon the product in less than a year.
I think you fill this like an external hard drive from your computer and then connect it to your TV. It has an optical audio out which is nice for surround sound. too bad it does not do 1080p.
I still like my philips dvd player which has a usb port on the front to play most computer formats
