is that because they laid off the maytag repair man too?
actually, they laid off the maytag repair man because he sucked at his job. Maytag was one of the last large appliance manufacturers to shift jobs overseas and that was done because the machines that were made in America had so many manufacture problems. Warranty replacement costs and crappy sales due to poor quality items drove maytag to the brink of bankruptcy.
made in USA = sucky
made overseas = even suckier
Maytag is owned my Whirlpool.
Maytag was bought by W/pool just before it was abt to go belly up. Their products include Amana, which are the same as M/tag,just re-branded, and just as poor in quality. RLH from this deal.
I have an Amana refrigerator that I bought brand new 12 years ago and has performed perfectly even after surviving two 650 mile moves and being in storage a couple times. I would buy another.
at least they're better than GE
