    Slightly cheaper. I got 50 at $2.63 a disc.

Never mind I'm the dumb one. I thought it was a 25pc spindle. I guess I need to start drinking scotch.

and that's why math in the US is ranked so low Razz

Looks like Sorny is feeling the pressure of BlewRay failure in the marketplace and is allowing recordable media to drop in price. Nothing like piracy to drive sales!

I buy Memorex BD-R media at Fry's in-store -- used to pay $59 for 15, and thought that was a deal, and it's recently been less than that.

No coasters with the Memorex media, and I've burned maybe 25 with my LG burner. The media code for the Memorex BD-R is

    Unique Disc Identifier : [BD-R-SL:RITEK-BR2-000]
    Recording Speeds : [1x , 2x , 4x]
    Manufacturer Name : [Ritek Corp.]
    Manufacturer ID : [RITEK]

But Fry's recently had Philips BD-R, 15 for $39.95 so I picked up some of those. I just now checked the media code and it says:

    Unique Disc Identifier : [BD-R-SL:CMCMAG-BA2-000]
Manufacturer Name : [CMC Magnetics Corp.]
    Manufacturer ID : [CMCMAG]
    Recording Speeds : [1x , 2x]

All I can say is "ruh roh". CMC media tends to be awful, but I haven't yet tried to burn these BD-Rs. I guess I'll return the second spindle if it turns out to be as crappy as other CMD media.

<sigh> I wish they'd put the media code on the package. In the meantime, the Memorex media is decent... at least until they switch from Ritek to CMC.
