      I got one of these. It would barely heat up a 40W soldering iron.

      It is not an honest 120W.
      It is not even an honest 60W.

      It is a good, solid, 30W converter.

      #1, generally small inverters dont like induction based hardware.

      Hey #2, a soldering iron is a pure resistance load.

      It worked, but it's overspec'd. You might assume an inverter advertised as 120W would be good for 60W. But in this case, the fudge-factor is 400%, not the standard 200%.
