Protein powders aside, if you want the magic pill, go for a pharmaceutical that is tried, tested, quality controlled, and has been around for a long time. e growth hormone, steroids. Otherwise you are kidding yourself and will either be getting no results, or gambling, just as you said. Anything that changes the way your body works enough for "gains" will have side effects. There is no free ride.
