Since a GPS device contains mapping software with a satellite receiver, this may be a cost effective way to travel. Streets and Trips is one of the best mapping softwares out there and this is a hell of a lot cheaper than Garmin.

This device is best for people who drive with a laptop.

Also, if you don't leave your laptop behind, in the car, there is no thought of theft.

My suggestion is to save your pennies and get a stand alone unit. You can get a Nextar for around $100.00. My brother has a Nextar and I have a TomTom. My TomTom was $300.00. It is not really better than the nextar. His Nextar will tell you when you are speeding, mine wont. That sucks. I have the Microsoft streets and trips with GPS. As you can figure out, I dont use the Microsoft GPS at all now. It just is too much trouble to use compared to the TomTom.

Since I need to take my laptop everytime I travel anyway, this is a much more economical solution than any gps stand-alone device. I already use the Delorme kit, but considering changing to Streets software. Once you have the USB GPS device, either map software package will work for you.

Yeah right. Driving around with a laptop running a GPS unless you drive a police cruiser.
