#2 you lost me... does this allow installs on more than 1 computer? I am really confused... or else what is the difference between this and retail?

Keep willing. Also, nobody cares how many computers you have. Why would you think anyone would?

ha.. You think microsoft will let you buy one copy and install it on however many pcs you want? Are you new?

Linux will however let you install it on any number of machines you want, and get the same things done.

Sure, #7, and then you only need to illegally download it or use someone else's disc.

#7, anyone can use a key gen and sell them on ebay for $20. How long before Microsoft deactivates is a good question.

I really like windows 7... it was a huge upgrade from xp. $165 seems to be the normal price not really much of a deal. You can only install 1 computer at a time for 1 copy but if you want to install in a different computer, you can always call them and ask them to reset for you. I got my copy from launch event for frreeeee....

I won't pay $100+ for an OS, that defeats the purpose of building your own budget PC. I'd bite at $50 but Ubuntu is going on my self-built PC when the free Windows 7 beta trial period ends and my computer starts shutting down periodically. If you want Windows 7 I'd suggest buying a PC with it installed. Dell et al. get way lower prices and resell at a lower margin.

Get a Mac OS. Apple allows you to install up to 5 computers for $180 after promotions.

    #13

The Apple store sale told me that there is no product keys for the Mac OS. basically, you can just buy a single ver OS and install as much as computer your want.

    Sure, #'s 13 & 14, after you've paid $2000 for $1000 worth of hardware, it seems like a bargain.

Building a Hackintosh is more like 25o$ with better hardware that can be replaced cheaply.
    Go with Linux already.

Window 7 used to have a 3-user license family pack for the home premium edition.. but I heard that was only a launch promo which is no longer available. They should keep selling that.. as most folks have more than 1 computer at home.
