so is a swift kick in the bread basket, but at the end of the day, i'd rather not have testicular bleeding.
moral: ubuntu gives you testicular bleeding.

Windows 7 -- "What Vista -shoulda- been."

I'm running Win7 RC on a couple of machines.
I'm running Ubuntu on a couple of machines (for MythTV).

Both are good; Ubuntu is a lot "lighter" and cheaper.

#6, As much as I like linux, I must say that Ubuntu is no cheaper than Windows 7 RC. The Release Candidate was a free download, too.

My new laptop came with free Windows 7 upgrade. Installed it this weekend. So far, smoother and a bit quicker than Vista. Not bad.

      moreturkey! Ha!

I installed Home Premium and don't particularly like it better than XP home, maybe a wee bit worse. Why am I supposed to like it better?

Student price is $30. Installed it this weekend, like it so far. It's definitely $30 better than vista. But I wouldn't pay more than $100 for an upgrade.

Premium, Professional, Ultimate. Those names are useless as a way to convey which version is better than the other. Marketing idiocy. Why not silver, gold, platinum?

I've been running Win7 Ultimate RC for at least six months now. Very stable. I never had too many issues with Windows Vista Ultimate. Win7 is faster though (especially booting). I will be upgrading.

I've got OS X on my Mac-mini right next to it. I play nice with all the products! Smile

I would rather rely on the Microsoft brand for my expensive computers then some African freeware. Unbuntu?? The same holds true for the VOI...Ooma?

Not for me. I'll take Microsoft, Comcast and Vonage over African freeware and hardware crap.

I was running windows 7- the 50 dollar thing that you could buy pre-sale at newegg- and then formatted it with linux.

I think windows 7 is WinXP with drivers onboard. But it still doesn't have the drivers that linux has onboard.

Anyhow, it made me feel sick to pay them 50 bucks. At $173 I'd commit seppuku. But for being made by a douche company that will intentionally break their OS and apps to make you upgrade in a year, it works fine thus far.

It still sucks more than Linux. But if you are reading this thread, you probably don't have any idea what Linux is in the first place. OPh NoooZZ!! Command Lines!!

All this OS bigotry is comical. I'd rather argue about how many angels can dance on the head of a pin. Geez people..bacon's really simple: use whatever OS you like that supports the apps you want to run.
