And sorry but the snarky "Apple" from the comecials reminds me of the computer guy Jimmy Fallon used to do on SNL who would make fun of everyone.

If the male cheerleader from the movie Dodgeball was in my corner supporting my Mac system , I would assume everything is true. MAc makes 100% correct commercials that aren't misleading in any shape or form.

Macs run Vista faster than PC's right? I can only assume that they run Windows 7 faster as well.

MS is selling 7 to students for $30. www.win741.com is their promo site.

But if you aren't eligible for that, why bother? The benefit of upgrading isn't worth the time and money. Just wait until it's time for a new computer.

To me, Vista and Windows 7 are bloated crap. I don't need/want UAC or fancy searches. Just give me a 64 bit version of Windows 98.

#28...we do appreciate your self-deprecation, because anyone who doesn't agree about Apple products being overpriced does need that button.

#23...lamers actually steal software? Hey, why not just try that at your local brick and mortar store? What's the moral difference?

I bought a refurbished Compaq for my son about a year ago and it came with Vista. Ran slow, locked up a lot and had to do a hard power down pretty often to shut it off. Also began to BSOD on a regular basis. Well, the 90 warranty was up and I thought I got screwed. At one point I put 4 GB of RAM in it thinking that would help a little. Didn't do much for it. Then I bought Windows 7 and ran the upgrade right from Windows. Viola! Problem solved! Runs great and no issues except one. I had to swap out the WLAN adapter for a new one supported by Windows 7, which didn't make me too happy, but other than that, I am extremely impressed with Windows 7.

Your rig has to be compatible with 64 bit to run it. When you try to load 64 on a 32 machine, you'll be told immediately that it's a no-no. Then, you can't return opened software and will be stuck with two overpriced versions of the same crap. Ubuntu's somewhat cheaper and a little less buggy.

W7 beta was great. Really streamlined and fast. Then all the beta test whiners wanted it to do more. So Microsoft caved in and created another Vista.
