Amazon has the Microsoft Windows 8 Professional Upgrade Version from XP, Vista and Windows 7 (3UR-00001) for $69 with free shipping. Includes a $30 promotional credit with purchase. Staples and MicroCenter.com are sold out for $40, but you can download it direct from Microsoft for $40 downloaded. Add Media Center for free.
is this Microsoft's way of marketing this product via all these merchants with all sorts of gimmicks - why is Amazon charging $69 when Microsoft is selling for $40 - why should I care about a $30 amazon gift card? am confused.
^Microsoft is selling Win 8 via a download, Amazon is selling Win 8 via a DVD disc. Downloading has it's disadvantages compared to owning an original disc from Mr Softy.
You don't get your $30 card from @mazon for 30 days after purchase.
Go to Staples to buy it. It have two disk one is 32 bit and the other is 64 bit. Window 8 is very good. Everyone should got this chance to upgrade from XP.
If your close to a Microcenter, they are selling the same product as Amazon (retail Win 8 Pro Upgrade DVD with 32bit & 64bit discs & license key) for $38.88. In store purchase only.
As Aweston stated, if you purchase a new PC, you can get Win 8 for $15.
I've seen some who have tweaked the Windows 8 interface to bring back the start menu and other older Windows features. If that's the case, staying with Windows 7 seems the better option unless your running XP or Vista and want a cheap upgrade.
you only get the ISO option if you download on win7.
