My ipod freezes up too. AND, after all these years it STILL doesn't even have FM. Zune is a BIG advantage on that one.

I tried out a Zune (previous gen) and the player itself was OK, I hated the interface (compared to the Ipod simplicity) and their software blew chunks over iTunes - and THAT is a low bar to beat. Crappy setup took over an hour with XP, and that was enough screwing around for me.

If I recall, it also came on the heels of Microsoft shutting down their "Plays For Sure" DRM server - hence screwing all their customers that had purchased music from them. burp it - if it's not unprotected MP3 I don't bother with it, would never buy that AAC crap from Apple either.

Ipods crash too. The only plus I can think of for the Ipod G5 is it runs Rockbox which I do. No Itunes and makes lots of cool games and utilities available for free. Doesn't do video though so you have to dual boot for that. I have 2 G5's I want to sell and get a Zune instead. Since I generally despise Microsoft I hate having reached this conclusion but I'm pragmatic as needed.

FM on an mp3 players is not a big advantage. I have an older iRiver that has it and I never use it. If FM was that great of a feature then iRiver would have beat Apple back when their 20GB version was $100 cheaper than the equivalent iPod.

Although I only stick to unprotected MP3's too, the DRM used by iTunes isn't that bad. It's transparent to most people. Although iTunes uses AAC and is overpriced, it does have a sizable library.

Sure, it's a lot cheaper than an Ipod touch but the Zune is not in the same class as the Touch. I think the Zune competes quite well with the Ipod Classic however, and at this price it probably beats it. Has the battery life improved on the Zune over the past year? That was what kept me away from it in the first place. My classic gets close to 30 hours on a charge.

#18 - i have a first gen 30gb, never had it hang. I love mine! I love that microsoft periodically sends out firmware updates to improve the zune. I've had mine two years and it just keeps getting better.

I prefer the latest zune software over the latest itunes software. The new zune pass is pretty sweet, you get to listen to whatever you want and owning 10 a month on top of that is sweet.

Ben, what's wrong dude? The coupon code deal says it excludes ZUNEs.

I have a 30gb and it works great, you can upgrade the software to the one this one comes with. I can play games on it, while listening to the radio, you can save songs and when you connect, it takes you to their ZUNE marketplace and let you buy it. The battery life on my is great except when playing games. The picture is also very sharp, I am very happy with my zune and since I still have 6gb left to use, I don't have a need for updating to a bigger HD for now, but it is tempting.

I've had 2 zunes for a while and like them. They do exactly what they are supposed to.

Zune has a built-in voice recorder, which iPod does not. I whould have purchased a Zune, if it were much cheaper than iPod.
