I have a black Zune. So far, it has 9GB of music and 12GB of ripped DVD movies on it. Sounds great, looks great, works great. Cost me $100. What's not to like?

I hope they bring the White and Black ones down to this price, with GCO it is only $90 shipped, a damn fine price.

There's kind of a funny bit about that very point over on a very popular site known to most of the internet universe (having an "off" day today, fwiw). They really couldn't get rid of the brown ones. Poor brown.

do you own one, or do you just hate them because its made by microsoft, and that's the cool thing to do? I've owned two ipods, both were truly pieces of baconnaise that had to be replaced multiple times for different reasons. i don't own a zune, but i don't make remarks about products based on my pretentious view of self-worth based on hatred for large corporations. i'm counter-counter-culture like that.

#8, they don't ship until mid-November. You can cancel your order if you want, but that'd be a bad idea. Great device for a great price.

Preach, mister! I own a 4g iPod, like it fine, would not buy another iPod now because their competitors offer far more bang for the buck), and think a $100 Zune is one of the better buys you're likely to find out there right now.

Apple fans: You can't pay hundreds of extra dollars for your wares and then complain that Apple's competitors represent corporate evil. You're just participating in a *different* form of corporate evil.

I have my Zune for a week and like it more and just have fun doing a few hacks which you can never do on ipods (claim: have a few ipods in house too).

I got a black Zune 30 refurb from Woot for $105 shipped and it does most everything that I want it to do. The software and DRM are difficult but there are workarounds for most everything. The hardware itself is pretty good, and at that price, good bang for the buck. It is bigger and heavier than I would like. It does not come with an adapter to charge from an AC outlet (must charge from USB port). The interface is often slow to respond to key presses. It only sees WMA and MP3 (no ogg, flac, etc.). Videos must be WMV or converted to WMV. No gapless. USB offers reasonabley rapid file transfer (necessary for big video files). Accessories are varied and mostly cheap (cases, cables, power adapters, docks, etc.) on e-bay. There should be a free firmware upgrade available for Zune 30's in November. Charging via USB takes as much as 3 hours. Battery time for video is less than 4 hours, audio more than 12 hours. If someone could crack the boot process and I could install some type of Rockbox firmware on it, it would be the best.

They should have called it the iZune. Then all the iTards would have crapped their pants trying to get one.

#18, if I'm not mistaken, this is the fecal matter of an iPod.

#17, it really is a shame that you can use Google Checkout only once, isn't it?

the size is what killed the zune (30) for me. the 40GB iPod photo I have is hueg like xbox. however, i have preordered a zune 80 from amazon; the new marketplace, organizer, and software look like an absolute must have for me.

as opposed to the comparably priced iPod touch (smaller storage space) or the iPod classic (smaller screen), the zune 80 compares more favorably and the size of the device itself becomes negligible.

I have tried out the creative zen 8gb for a few weeks, and while the size and screen are very nice, the software is still buggy and had even crashed on me twice in the first day requiring a hard reset.

There is no such thing as a perfect PMP. They should let me design one already.
