who the hell designs the appearance of products nowadays, anyway? On the one hand, you have the **** brown Zune. On the other, the entire Apple product line in canadian baconty-ass white.

I don't like iPods, but I like my 24" iMac, which BTW, is made out of aluminum, not white plastic. In any event, I really like the Zune -- has anyone else noticed that brown is the new black? Microsoft really got that right. In any event, if this thing compatible with Tiger? -- I don't have Leopard yet.

The KEY here is that a 30GB Player is now affordable. The IPod is overpriced.

The beauty of it is that all the old Zunes get the firmware too. Biatch

A brown Zune, eh? Well, at least it will match the skin color (also co-incidentally the color of baconnaise) of the people for which it was intended. *smirk*

There is also white baconnaise (bird turd).

At this price, it's probably worth the extra trouble that dealing with it's crappy software and GUI takes. The wifi "squirt" system is stupidly crippled, the desktop software is crap, and the interface on the device itself is very unintuitive.

That said, it has a nice large screen (if you can satisfy their DRM lockdown to see anything) and the accessories are becoming dirt-cheap because few people were willing to give up an iPod to deal with all the downsides of this device.

The baconnaise-colored casing was pretty amazing to see - some designer did very accurate color matching.
