For the price, it really is. I've used both and would actually buy this one if I had the need. Wouldn't buy the ipod.

Haven't seen this sorta deal in a while, but then I haven't looked for it either. I have two and they're great devices for the price. Much better than comparable ipods.

I love my zune. And while I don't love the software, I think itunes is even worse.

I remeber a now infamous interview with the CEO of Sony a few year back who said "Why would anyone want to watch video on a two inch screen?"

I heard gamestop stop selling Zunes now because overall sales ratio between ipods and zunes are 26:1, so 26 people buy ipod and only 1 buys zune..

man sucks that I missed out on this. My daughter already has one, so we have the 14.99 unlimited deal.

I have a Zune 80 and am very happy with it, especially since the latest software upgrade (from 2.3 to 2.5). Ipods are just too expensive.

The 30GB 1st generation has one big benifit over new 80GB version, an equalizer! MS decided to leave out the equalizer feature in newer models, a big mistake in my opinion.

With newest software and latest firmware update (available for both 1st and 2nd generation models), I feel the Zune is a real iPod competitor. I really like the bigger screen on the 30GB and 80GB models.

All you people trashing the Zune, have you actually played with one with latest updates? If you get the opportunity, you should really check out a Zune, you may be surprised.

With so many young people, the main reason to get an iPod is simply "all my friends have iPods", sorta like tennis shoes.

I've heard that the zune software will kill the FU4WM decryption, is this true? I like the zune, except for the software. I don't need syncronization, waste of time. WTF is wrong with simple drag & drop?

To porchmonkey - You can choose not to synchronize with the Zune software, then from Zune application, you can drag and drop only the items you want onto the Zune.

I don't know anything about FU4WM decryption, all of my files were ripped from my original CD's (yeah, that's the ticket).

Maximum PC magazine chose the Zune over the ipod and they definitely had both to compare. That said, my wife loves her ipod.

It amazes me to see some ipod lovers cite the numbers as if that is an indication of superiority. 26:1 is pretty impressive.

By that logic then I guess the Windows operating system must be far better than the Apple operating system since 95% of all computers use it.
