Amazon has this for 89.99 and you can get a colored silicone case for it if you don't like the brown exterior ....

I don't mind the color, but the fact it's Microsoft bothers me, I think they did better with the second gen. Zune.

      Let the iPod-bashing begin!

#16 "Ipod is unreasonably too expensive and continues to ignore market forces"

      Zune80 $250
      iPod Classic 80GB $250
      Your point?

iPods and Zunes are similarly priced. Refurbished iPods and Zunes are similarly priced. So why all the moaning and whining about iPod pricing?

The reason that Zune 30s are selling cheap is that THEY COULD NOT SELL THEM AT FULL PRICE. Sorry to shout, but it needs to be said; they need to clear out the channel for the Zune 80s. Had they sold the Zune 30s for $150 initially we would not see these deals and the Zune would have had more impressive sales figures.

As for ignoring market forces, that's hardly a sin, and even if it is, Microsoft are no strangers to it. Apple does not discount because they don't have to. If you don't believe me, offer a teenager a choice between an iPod and a Zune and see what they say...

Is the Zune a good device? Certainly, and at this price it is a great deal. But MS needs something better than a johnny-come-lately me-too product wrapped in DRM to compete in an already-crowded market. They need something

, and so far, I ain't seen it.

My prediction is that the next iPod classic will be an iPod touch with a hard drive... shiny!

I'm still an ipod fan, however, for the price, am thinking about test driving a zune. The hold back is tied to some of the selling points. That is, wireless file transfer between zunes, etc. At the same time, the limitation are so numerous, it detracts from the benefits. Granted ipod doesn't have the transfer built in, but given the current limitations, it doesn't really matter. Still, for under $100, it may be worth trying out for the holiday.
