Does Anyone like this version of the zune?
What is the difference between this and the $100 30GB Zune or $300+ ipod as an MP3 player?. Isn't the sound quality mostly determined by the headphone speaker than the player ? Is it not good to buy a player with better storage/$ amount and invest in a good pair of headphones ?
My 30 gig Refurbished Brown Zune($80, Thanks Woot) works just like this(minus the touch sensitive button). So physical size aside. Yes #4 I do like the Zune. No I do not like the small Zune pictured above. Too much for too little, but I would choose this over Ipod. Unless the Ipod is half as much. Hope that helps, but probably not. Good Luck!
#5, I was looking at these at Best Buy and there is quite a difference in size between this newer version and the old 30G brown version that some have purchased off Woot. This newer model is thinner and not as large so you might want to see the difference in person if you think that will matter to you.
The 30GB is a spinning disk. These have no moving parts.
Not that I'm a fan of ipod's world domination, but in what way is this a superior product to the nano?
creative.com has new flash-based ZEN 32GB on pre-order for $349; it also has SDHC slot which makes it somewhat future-proof
I just called them and rep says these are going to ship on Dec 17-th
not anything related to this, but what do u guys think of the archos (604 specifically)
Microsoft usually makes better products in subsequent releases. For example Windows 98 much better than 95. Zune is no exception.
#12
Then what about the vista fiasco?
waiting for Vista SP2 to come along any time
Vista is the Windows Millennium edition. You have to allow for failure on every 4th release.
Reply to #11... I have tha Archos 604 - and love it. But note it *is* primarily a video player (no comparison to this which is primarily for audio) - so the Archos is heavier and bigger.
The Archos works with Divx/Xvid out of the box, but not H.264 or MPG2 (e.g VOB files) unless you pay extra for the plugins. I did, but regret it. The H.264 plugin is basic mode only, it works with iPod video, but not full mode H.264 like you get out of VLC. And MPEG2 video is just too big.
Best tip: Download the PocketDivxEncoder (freeware) and use that to convert any video you want (incl ripped DVDs)
The main difference between ipod and others is the interface. Apple has the click wheel patented. Their software is very intuitive too and along with the click wheel provides the best interface of all mp3 players.
how about we dont get this and wait for a larger storage mp4
#9, here's some features that the Zune has that the iPod Nano does not have:
Wireless sync: Now you can cut the cord to your PC. Connect to your home wireless network and sync your Zune with your PC collection.
Wireless media sharing: Share full length tracks of your favorite songs, albums, playlists, pictures and even audio podcasts. When sharing, you can listen to the full track of any song you receive up to three times and even pass along songs shared with you to other friends. If you like a song, easily add it to your wishlist on your Zune and buy it later when you sync to your PC.
FM radio tuner: With the built-in FM tuner you can listen to local FM radio stations or tune into programming while you're out. Advanced tuning capabilities allow you to see the name of the song currently playing on select frequencies.
I think both are great players (Zune and Nano) but it's hard to beat the old 30GB first gen Zune deals for $80-$100. The new Zunes look amazing though.
The Zune may be bigger than the standard 60-80gb ipod, but Zune does also have that nice 3" screen, can't beat that
