Play with one at local retail. Functional wise maybe great, but the touch pad sucks so much I have a hard time navigating.
I am not a fan of the ipod click wheel, but the zune is far worse.

Back on topic, I have one of these and four variations of iPods. I am really impressed by the quality feel of the Zune (like the textured aluminum backing that doesn't feel like a wet bar of soap), the FM tuner that displays the songs on compatible broadcasts and the wide screen video capablities. I don't like the points vs $.99 per song, but it works out the same as iTunes. Certainly a better v2 player than Apple had.
