480 x 272 resolution is not HD. I still dont get it why they even advertize it as such a big deal. Oh.. it can play HD. Whatever! Just get an iSomething...

i think the purpose of it playing hd videos is so you don't have to convert the videos you pirate/download and then you spend extra money to buy the cable to output to your tv, giving you the full hd experience. maybe, maybe not
#12, on a 3.3" screen, you can't really tell the difference in HD vs. 480x272 resolution (okay, maybe a little).
The reason it is named 'HD' is because this Zune HD has the Nvidia chip which is capable of outputting to an HDTV at 1080p (or is it 720p) resolution. SO you can download HD content to the Zune and view it in HD quality on your TV via a special cable (sold separately).
I'd be going crazy if this thing had phone capabilities...

HD doesn't solely refer to displays. For example, the Zune HD has HD Radio (which, if you are unaware, is not the same as "radio") and, as bhatiainc points out, it can output HD video to televisions.
