Both these deals look pretty good. Anyone have experience with either? It seems pretty obvious to go with the first one... These things are great on the ski mountains.

The problem with these on ski hills it that everyone has one...we've had to come up with some interesting code phrases to make sure we were talking to the right person...

You'll need to have an FCC license to operate the units at the higher power channels. You might not get more than a few blocks of range in a big city.

Got a pair from Staples for $20. There is no privacy code on it, so basically, you will be mixing up with other poeple's conversation when you are using them in area, like Disney World.

I like the other model 440tx of Midland. The privacy code let you have 1/220 possibility to mix with others. Otheriwise, is 1/22.

the privacy code just lets the radio know when to wake and listen to another radio set to that code. It does not change the channel/frequency being used which is limited to 22. It does not do trunking.
