Tried this unit and did not like it. The driving directions were inaccurate. POI's were lacking. Get TomTom One, saw it onsale somewhere for $254. Spend a little more and get an excellent gps.

Yesterday's post must have shamed CC into lowering the price from $249 to compete with Staples. The -7% pays tax and with free shipping the price is right til next month when I'm sure the price will be <$20. Under $200 looks like a good deal now for an entry level toy. In for one, and off to surf the hacker sites on previous posts...

i bought this, and I love it - POI and much better than my friend's Garvin (sp.), and the POI also include the phone number (HUGE selling point for me).

I paid $199 a week ago from the same place

It's interesting that I keep seeing this stuff price lower and lower. Anyway it's a good GPS if you hack it and you can install bunch of stuffs.

Preloaded maps can be updated VERY easily (if they ever become available Wink, this leaves the SD card slot free for MP3's and other things something Garmin can't say. I own both a Nuvi 360 and the Mio, I take the Mio most of the time because I like to listen to MP3's while I'm being GPS'd to my destination. Try that with your Garmin. Hardly owned #5.

I am very happy with the Mio C310x... and haven't even hacked it yet. Have not read the manual, everything is relatively easy to figure out and with relatively few menu selections, you can get setup and rolling on a trip.

The 3D view is done in such a way that the horizon fades away giving it a nice 3D effect.

I compared it side by side with a Garmin Nuvi 360. I much prefer the Mio even though it does not say the name of the street, it gives you plenty of warning as you approach an intersection... and for the price of the Garmin, you can have 3 of these Mios.

The Garmin may be feature rich...but changing settings requires deep menu selections. If you want something quick and easy to setup the moment you get in the car, the Mio is the way to go.

I paid $198 at Fry's... free shipping; no tax...

Hacked mine. Female UK voice. Got mine on Black Friday for $125!!! $150 and Staples honored my $25 off $100 OfficeMax coupon!

Be advised though, that this does NOT include Canada, but it's a free download and you can put it on an SD card, or remove several remote S places like Guam, Alaska, etc. to make room. And it does NOT do TEXT navigation (e reading street names) unless that's a hack. It is very hackable (video player, etc.) but I've only done minor hacks.

Nice and compact. I'm gonna bring it on my next trip instead of renting a NeverLost-based car from Hertz.

#3, go back to Circuit City and have them price match! (or buy w/ new price/coupon and return w/ old receipt if they won't do that, because it's a coupon).

Someone said Mio is faster then Garmin 320. I'm getting the Mio b/c it can be hack to do everything. Smile

Got mine at Staples with 2 coupons to make it sweeter then $180s. Off to the hack site too. LOL

I don't like CC b/c they did the price switch. Earlier today this priced at $250 while yesterday was @ $200. There is a $40 CC coupon floating around to make this sweeter.

I bought this for my wife who will travel to Florida by herself. I got it for a little above $200. I like it. Without any hacking it is still very useful. Although I have never used other GPSs, this small gear is way more worth than $200.

      Garmin c320 12 channel

      Mio C310x SiRFstarIII 20 channel

      True but
Garmin c320 : Navteq map and more POIs
Mio : Teleatlas map and less POI

So the choce is better reception or better maps

      #14

Mio + iGuidance = Navteq Maps
      Or
Mio + TomTom = Better Teleatlas Maps

Can you watch movies, play music, address book, games, or look at pictures on your Garmin for $200 more?

BTW: SirfStar III is a big deal, the difference between 12 and 20 satellites isn't really that big of deal.

"Who's dumb enough to buy a GPS unit to do that?"

I didn't buy it to do that, but it will do that and more. The maps aren't that bad, I just used the unit for a week at Mardi Gras and never had a problem. If you use the Mio maps in an area you already know, you'll notice a problem or two. If your an area that you don't know, the Mio will get you where you want to go and you'll have no idea you might have gotten there a better way, but at least it got you there. Hands down I've used this thing for a month day in and day out, and for the money you will not find a better unit. I was about to get the Garmin Nuvi and decided to settle for the Mio, and I am really really glad I didn't get the Garmin. Not they are bad, for the money and the amount I really need a GPS you can't beat the Mio.

Anyone who buys a GPS that can easily be hacked is walking on thin ice. The Mio people need to patch that hole and do a better job of QA.

i like the mio..bacon has burp me up a couple times, but only cause a few onramps have been moved within the last year, so i'm assuming that no gps is going to be updated that frequently.

#18, I'm pretty sure many people are like me who bought Mio over others partially due to the fact that it can be hacked to provide video playback or other features. But I guess from engr point of view, Mio shouldn't let it happened... but it sure helps the sale, almost every place selling it for 200 are out.

One thing to keep in mind, map is kinda old, hope the update comes out soon.

Video playback is great, been watching divx clips all the time, even without resizing, Mio can handle the job pretty well.
