Anyone know if the mp3 has resume on playback feature? (Resumes mid-sentence for a book on tape after restart)
Nope. Restarts at the beginning.
Please note that Fry's will charge you a "restocking" fee if the sealed box has been opened. Thats posted at their store.
Fry's fires another volley in the MIO digiwalker price wars.
Talk this thing up all you want, you can't polish a turd.
jwahooo, I would like to know why you call this thing a turd. I have researched and actually bought three gps's in the past 3 months to test them out.
The magellan 2200T, Garmin Nuvi 350, and Mio c310x. After test driving all of them repeatedly and really getting into the nitty gritty, the Mio won hands down.
In my area, San Francisco/Oakland, this thing routed much better than the other two. The other two gave me funky routes and wasn't always optimal. The Mio only did that on few occasions and it's routing was much better.
I also installed new skins on the Mio and it looks much better than the Garmin 350. The magellan is in the dark ages on that. The Mio is like the GPS for tech geeks, who love being able to have full control over their system. It's because you can hack into the Win CE interface and install video players, apps, etc.
Piece of turd, I don't think so. I hate it when people put down a product without giving a good reason. Because I want to know why, so I can make the decision myself.
for skins and mods, goto the gpspassion forums. tons of stuff on tricking out the Mio's.
Got one.. love it. But until they update the map I would recommend not to trust this 100%. Update map should be out this month.
Mio's website still says "spring 07" for the new maps, and apperantly they'll be charging existing customers for them.
From their FAQ
Q) How often do you update your maps and how are they made available to customers?
A) Mio Technology continues to ready our release of an updated map for our current customers. Unfortunately sometimes good things take a bit longer than planned. The new Tele Atlas maps are robust and arguably one of the best digital maps ever commercially developed. In order to give our customers the best possible map update experience, we are working to create an easy way to have your Mio DigiWalker? updated this Spring. Please continue to check our website in the near future for map pricing and availability http://www.mibaconech.com.
Wow! That really clears things up for me #6. If I had known I could change the crappy interface my Mio originally came with, PAY for some new and continually shitty tele-atlas maps that will NEVER be worth a damn in north america, watch movies and prepare powerpoint presentations a screen the size of my thumbnail I would have kept mine. All that and a battery that won't last but MAYBE an hour and a half, I going back in for another. HACK THE GIBSON, err.. I mean the MIO!!
there is a setting that lets you choose your
Route Parameters:
click on MENU, HOUSE ICON bottom right of screen, (NOT Address)
OR push MENU button on right side of unit
then
TOOLS ICON top right of screen
Route ICON
Route Options
shortest route, fastest route, use paved roads only, toll roads, car, taxi, bus, truck, emergency vehicles, car pool, ect...
settings will stay till changed
there's also a bunch of stuff in the other menus, Advanced, ect..
also note the UP/DOWN arrows on the right side of some menu screens
That was easy.
#10 I like that feature too.
the mio was $150 at compusa on 3/18, although it is worth $189 easy IMO.
Or you can get 10% off $200 at circuitcity if you are a AAA member.
To anyone who has the mio, you can add canada maps by downloading it to an SD card and put it in the unit...the mio will find the new amp and integrate it...amazing that you do not have to hack anything.
jwahoo, you must have a really freakishly large thumbnail. which GPS do you like?
