Any personal reviews on this brand of GPS? Never heard of them but the price seems alright.
I've bought and researched car GPS systems for years now, and I always keep going back to the de-facto name in GPS: Garmin.
garmin spends more on advertising and is very simple. mio is much better and a lot more functional. I own both companies models and mio maps software is just better.
i hate the old Mio C320 model map.. but the new ones, are much better now
I had a Mio c220 that I liked very much. Not much support for them though. Very nice looking maps and usually pretty accurate. It got me lost on the way to a wedding though. I ended up on a dirt road in Maryland with it telling me to make a left where there was no road, only trees. I ended up late and walked in right when the vows were being exchanged. Although that's the map company's fault and not really the GPS, I bought a Garmin the next day.
I would give Mio another chance. I liked their search function and results better than Garmin.
Get a Garmin. Garmin is better with its US maps. Garmin will tell you if the destination is on the left/right side of the street.
Get any Mio Moov series to get up-to-date map + free 2009 map upgrade. Why do you have to get Garmin with 2007 map?
there is a Pocket Mio software (free open source) you can install to make the Unit like a Pocket PC.. install different mapping software (multiple if you have space) etc.. do a search for Mio Pocket and see if this device its compatible.
the mio moov 500 was only $10 more on BF
#6 tells the truth. Garmin is a way better GPS nav system than craptacular Mio.
Garmin will also charge you every year for map updates every year too.
if your buying mio gps, it gotta be hackable. i heard their moov is not as good as the older model.
i had the c310x and now the c520 which also rocks.
#10, Garmin is Best GPS for going Point A to Point B ONLY!! Their system is damn slow on everything else!!! i tried the 680, then try again with the new 860, problem still exists. (both unit return within a week) search POI for a Circuit city, or Safeway, it would "Always" take 5-10 mins, if you are on the road, wanting to search a store fast, 2mins is already too long!!
Mio, within 10-30sec, 50+ pages of similar store is there for you. + Mio is hackage act like a PDA, you can have Garmin, Tomtom, iGo up to date Maps preload on SD card.. it's all in one!!
very true.. garmin is slow in searching POI.. while Mio do search it a lot more faster.. I own a Mio C320, Mio Moov 310 and 2 Garmin Nuvi 200.. Garmin is a good map software with chinese voice available which my dad needs.. that is one advantage over Mio i guess.. Mio is much faster for other stuff along with hackable Mio is a good thing.
I have the MIO220 or 230 (it is in my car, I cant remember the model). I added about 12million POIs, something you cant do with any other brand. It seems to operate pretty much the same as any other GPS. I also like that the MIO has its own battery, so I can use another device in my car charger for a while.
Every GPS has pros/cons, dont believe it when someone says one brand is super crappy over another. They are just brainwashed by the advertising.
Garmin is very good!
navigon make good GPS too
Mio is crap, stick with Garmin.
I have the Mio C520. It does NOT tell you which side of the road your destination is on. That's a big draw back.
This comes with a free year of live traffic updates too it seems.
Here is a pretty good down to earth review of this model:
