Ok, before I buy - are these any good? Can they be mounted up high. The speakers I have now have the standard mounting adapter. They suck and I want to replace them.

Look somewhere else. With the added cost of a (good) sub, you're in the $500.00 range. There are much better sets for that kind of money. Also, these suck at H/T use. Because of the design, there is no pinpoint localization of sound with the action when viewing a movie. These are better for music than video. With no sub, these aren't that good a deal.

I disagree. I think these are great and can be partnered with a $150 velodyne sub for a stellar system that can't be touched for the $400 price. I actually like the omni-directional sound for music and movies. The Nanosat system with matched sub can be found on fleabay for about $550 and that is still a great deal.

I think these could be mounted high on a wall at any location due to their omni-directional sound and really look modern and small compared to traditional systems. You should also check out Orb Audio and the KEF 3005 system if you want small, modern speakers with big sound that can be mounted directly to the ceiling (but both systems will run about $1K).

Better for HT than music. Soundstage from stereo (CDs, most compressed music) is important for music due to only using two speakers - the dispersion in this set doesn't work well for that.

However, in a home theater that uses surround sound media, you have speakers for every location, so the dispersion isn't as big of a factor. Because these fire upwards (up and out), they're not great for mounting above ear-level. Also, because of their size, a sub is required for full range sound - good tonality in a small package is great, but you'll completely lack presence.
