It's 15" wide so #3's comments make sense.

if this didn't have a laser, it would not have been a good deal

From what I've read, these have better picture quality than the high end plasmas (Panny Kuro Elite). I'm not sure if it's better than the Sharp LED LCD or not.

laser was old news. why is it coming out now? initially it was too expensive and too bulky to produce, I am sure it's still the same matter to this day. LED's seem so much more efficient as well.

"Overall the L65A90 rates in the stratosphere of top displays, specifically the Pioneer Kuro Elite plasmas, the LED backlit Samsung 950 LCDs and the 65ââ¬Â Panasonic Premiere TH-65VX100."

This is just a regular DLP rear projection setup.

Samsung sold an LED powered RP DLP set for several years (I am using one right now). All this Mits model does is replace a lamp (shining through a spinning color wheel) with three lasers. It still uses a DLP chip (possibly three, like higher end projectors). This product arrived about three years LATE to market and the rear projection market is all but dead. All RP allows is poor viewing angles as a tradeoff for a big screen at a low price. This dumb thing is commanding a VERY high price, even at $4k. It should be priced around $1.5-2k.
