Not very good in reality. Not even close.

I was considering this for a family member who cut the cable and currently has nothing.
Depends where you're located, near a metro area you may be fine with something like this but the further away you are the more you need something up high like on the roof.
Then again if you're close enough you can just get any random set-top dual element antenna from goodwill or a garage sale. I happened to have one left over from a ~ 20 yo CRT TV that I'd long since thrown away, but I only use it during cable outtages.
