Free is good - but finding any quality apps for an android tablet is "damn near" impossible
I noticed recently that the AMZN app store sucks up a lot of CPU cycles even when you don't use it. When I have an app like that I usually uninstall but all AMZN apps, even the free ones, require the AMZN app store be running at all times. I recently restored an better behaving and older version of app store and refuse to let it update but am making sure not to spend any money on AMZN apps in case I have to abandon it entirely.
TS, how did you "refuse to let it update"? I can't find that setting...

Amazon's free app of the day. Check back tomorrow and the next day and the next day. Got like two hundred of them already.
The Amazon App store wants to install all of my applications and updates twice, which is a bit annoying. Other than that, I've been happy with my free apps and the one or two I spent money on. I hadn't noticed the CPU usage, but will watch that now.
