WireFly has the Motorola Droid Android Smartphone on sale (price not shown at their request) with free shipping. The Droid is Verizon's first Google Android smartphone and looks to be a strong iPhone competitor.

Don't have one but I'd love one. Heard a lot of good things about this phone. Been with Verizon about three years now.

Cost is $120. Great phone. I love mine. Best phone I've ever used, including the TP2, and the iPhone.

One of my friend had this one. I tried it before it was stolen. It is a very nice phone with lots of functions. The coolest function is the QWERTY keyboard. This phone is definitely a strong competitor to iphone. I have an Iphone, and sending text from an iphone is really a pain in the ...

I'm in the market for a new phone. iPhone or Droid? What will this phone do that an iPhone won't? Or vice versa?

      Some things to remember:

      - Wirefly is an authorized e-tailer for Verizon. That means most online deals for the Droid (including Sears.com) are handled by them. I've read several reviews that they are OK at setting up new accounts, but have had trouble porting numbers (a quick call to Verizon fixes that).
      - Wirefly is not willing to offer the lower-minute calling plans (they admit it's not enough margin for them). For our current 2-line plan, it wasn't worth it to switch to them.
      - Wirefly has some heinous cancellation clauses/fees. Read the fine print.
      - We just upgraded from voice-only to voice+data (did it at the store, btw). THINK ABOUT IT PEOPLE: if you're going to pay Verizon $30/month for data, that's $720 for a 2-year contract. At that rate, saving $50-$75 on the phone up-front (and then maybe chargers, batteries, mounts, etc.) is minor in comparison.

      WireFly means no rebates.
They will make rebate submission so complicated that you will never get it (even if you submit it right).

Agree with #6 and #7. I used wirefly to get on with Sprint. Bad experience all around! First of all Sprint Sucks! Also if you want to change your # (or port it) forget about your rebate, which you have to wait 6 months to submit for. Find a good local store that is willing to deal. Our local Verizon store gave us our phones for free without rebates!

#5- word is that if you dont want an Iphone then get a Droid. Iphones are neat but expensive. check your plan costs with data from AT&T

As long as the iPhone comes with the AT&T curse, you'd be better off with Verizon. Their customer service is da bomb. IF you ever need help, you get through right away and the problem is fixed right then and there. I've been with them 5 years; good coverage and rarely a dropped anything (I'm on a BB right now--Android something next). Top rated in every metro area on latest Consumer Reports ratings.

I'm at NYC and AT&T's service is just horrid. My iphone drops calls and jumps straight to voicemail w/o even ringing most of the time. I can understand the 3G service being slow, but the foremost important function for a phone is to actually get your calls w/o interruption. It doesn't matter how nice or sleek your phone works. AT&T failed miserably in that department. Once my 2 year is up in Feb, I will be switching back to Verizon. Stay away from AT&T if you actually want to receive your phone calls.

I have no problems with AT&T service in the Charlotte NC metro area. I guess it depends where you live. I have an iPhone now but would love to test out one of these droids to compare them.

#11 are you out of your frigging mind?!? AT&T's 3G SUCKS compared to Verizon. It is one of the reasons I switched! Much better coverage in Northern California.

Regarding the size, I was amazed at how small but usable it is. Not very big at all. I wish it was a 4.3" device instead of 3.7". Snapdragon would have been nice too. Other than that it is excellent!

      It's the right choice, AT&T.

With AT&T, you can talk and use 3G at the same time. Verizon; on the other hand, can only use one or the other. In addition, Droid is way heavier compare to iphone.

And honestly, how many times have you found yourself using 3G WHILE talking to someone? Seriously!

Now, how many times would you find yourself wanting to make use of the Droids ability to do Multitasking which the Iphone can't? ALL THE TIME! This article on Engadget says it all: http://www.engadget.com/2009/07/10/editorial-taking-the-iphone-3gs-off-the-job-market/

The Iphone is a one trick-at-a-time TOY, nothing more. Wanna make real use of your phone with a consistent network that you won't find yourself stuttering along on the Edge network 90% of the time? Then get the Droid.
