Reviews give both the Xoom and Android 3.0 a "so-so" rating. General feeling is that both feel not quite finished and have a decent number of glitches/issues. Android 3.1 should be out soon and is suppose to smooth over a bunch of the software issues.
Motorola also shot themselves in the foot with the pricing on this as it's too expensive. You can't price stuff equal to the iPad 2 and expect it to sell. For an Android tablet to be successful it needs to have equal or better hardware than the iPad 2 and a lower price. And with The Asus Transformer out for $400 the price on this looks even worse.
If the link doesn't survive - It's the Ars Technica review of the Xoom. It rates as pretty good, holding up against the nameless competition. One of the last comments to go along with it is from Aurich, a staff reviewer (but not the writer of the actual review).
"We sent the Xoom back to Motorola a while ago, so we're not using it anymore. No one on the staff is masochistic enough to actually want to own the thing, so I doubt you'll see any of us use it again."

Power switch on the back of the device, Odd. Nuff said.
