i guess this is a good price for the GPS. It's not bad, but has issues. Directions still have to be optimized for the US(at least Boston area). Takes a while to find satellites sometimes.
But Navigon seems to work pretty hard to fix issues. They have released 2 map and software updates in 2008. Their customer support was helpful when I had issues also.
Garmin.
The Navigon 2100 is fine for most car purposes... but it is not passable for geocaching. Get one for $95 if you're looking for a great deal on a car GPS.
The 5100 for $200 maybe better because of traffic update.
I think that is a cool option.
This isn't bad for the price. My dad just got his today and we took it out. It picks up the satellites very quickly and when we went off route it was able to recalculate within 5-10 seconds. I have the Pharos 250 and I think I prefer the performance of the Navigon.
Voice does not talk until you are actually moving on the road
Been using this unit for a few months now and I'm very pleased. For the money, it's a great GPS...TTS and free map updates (we are in a fast-growing area and the latest update includes all of the new local roads). Picks up sats in under a minute. Recalculates routes well.
