NewEgg.com has the Neat Desk 00315 CIS 600 dpi Duplex Document Scanner for $450 - $50 with coupon code SCAN11750 = $400 with free shipping. Images can be saved in JPEG, PDF and other popular formats, as well as run through OCR so that they are easily searchable.
And why would I buy this over say, an HP or Epson all-in-one multifunction device with an automatic feed tray? Especially for less than half the price?
this is a WHOLE different class of scanner compared to your AIO printer w/ built in scanner.
1. Scans both sides @ 25PPM (business cards, reciepts, full documents). 2. Scans and saves in mutliple formates (jpeg, PDF, etc) 3. OCR capabilities so you can search for files based on keywords. 4. Export data to excel, quicken, quickbooks, turbo tax.
If you only scan 1-2 pages per month this wont have much return. Neat has very unique software interface and reliability like fujitsu S510
