PCMicroStore has the Nero 9.4.17/26 Suite 2 Burn no playback (OEM) for $5.99 - $2.50 off with coupon code NERO [500 uses] = $3.49 with free shipping. Create, rip, copy, burn, and edit music, video, photo and data, with autobackup and data-protection features.
As much as I dislike Nero, nero burning rom is one of the few softwares out there (and possibly the best) at burning to multiple external dvd burners at the same time.
I tried out Nero 9 and was absolutely appalled by the amount of baconnaise it installs. Way over bloated crap. Reverted back to nero 7 ultimate and never looked back. nero 7 works just fine on win 7 ultimate 64bit.

^ Get the modded lite version from p2p then use your serial off the bloated one you already had.
However, you can just disable it loading the extra crap at boot-time, disable any undesired services, and/or delete folders for unwanted modules if you're hard up for HDD space.
I have to agree though that Nero went downhill a little with each successive version after 6.
I agree with #7 you can disable anything that you don't want, including auto connect to the internet, But you have to do it thur a firewall instead of the program itself. (most program have a un-check for auto updates)..
I aslo agree that Nero version 6.6 is the BEST. You can download a free copy thur google, But!. Becarefull with adware,virus,ect,ect.. with alot of sites that Hacker like to hang out at. Beside 6.6 is only good for XP. Vista and Window 7 will not work.
Few Month ago, I went to Nero.com and download the 9.4 lite Version FREE, Not a free trail version, but a lite version (Limited). Works good, Not as much as the full version thou.. I have bought Oh!. about 100 dvd burner of all brands. Most of the burner bundle with a OEM FREE Software that included Nero.7 and Nero 8. So, I have plenty Nero that I don't use.. If you trying to burn something, your window's programs can do it already..
#1 That what they have to do, By law they have to Bundle with a hardware. A piece of wire of one inch will pass the loopoles. That's the game they have to play, and most retail don't event bother to even give you that hard ware, knowing you not going to cry about it, Actually they are selling you the Software.. I went to the nero sites, They don't have that free download anymore Nero 9.4, but they do have that FREE 30 days trail Nero 10..
How about imageburn? Free and simple. I prefer to choose the extras my self.. I used to use Nero 6.6 but it wouldn't run right on the last PC I set up and the updates I know exist are no longer available.
"Must be purchased or bundled with hardware"
So, if I was just wanting to "test" this on a computer that I already own, would it install and work just fine for me?
W/o HD playback and decoder, this thing is not attractive.
I got one these a year or two ago, v7? v8? The menu was severely crippled (couldn't change the CD name), so I reverted to v6 for burning CDs and DVDs.
No matter which of these you get, it'll connect to the internet on launch and try and sell you the latest and greatest.

Still free, still there.
You do not have to do anything with a firewall to disable features and running "helper" apps you do not want.

Imgburn is the best for burning ISO games.
