People serious about roasting will soon need a serious roaster.
Nonetheless, any coffee roaster is MUCH better than no roaster at all.
Been using a Fresh Roast Plus for 8 or so years now and am happy with it.
Where do you buy your green beans?

^ That's usually a thermal fuse or breaker fault. Given a multimeter to see where the circuit continuity is broken, all you'd need to fix that is a ~ $2 thermal breaker or $1 thermal fuse plus some jacketless crimp connectors since anything directly connected to the heating element isn't a good candidate for solder connection.
