Ends 1/5/13. Lowes has the Nest Learning Thermostat 1st Generation (T100577) for $198 with free shipping. Learns your schedule to keep your home a comfortable temperature without wasting energy. Can be controlled via Wi-Fi from your smartphone or laptop. Former Apple and Google engineers are involved at Nest.
Not too sure how this is a deal. This is the regular everyday price. Go on eBay and get a Filtrete 3m50 instead for about $75. Not as fancy but does the same stuff.
I have been using it since Thanksgiving and it far exceeded the convenience and piece of mind. Having the typical 4 wire install, it took about 15 minutes from start to finish. Which included spackling the holes the last t-stat left. The design team of this product is the same people that gave you the Iphone and google. I have bought 3 of these units, installing 2 of them as gifts. Free online app lets you control it from any room or any place you have wi-fi or internet. I can review my daily energy run time, shows outside temperature... plus its looks far better than the brick that honeywell sells.
Not too sure how this isn't a deal.. It is usually $235 and I have wanted one of these for over a year and the price has not budged.
Just because there are other brands that are cheaper doesn't change the fact the this is a deal. If i get you a Porsche 911 for $10,000 off, that is a deal even though you can get a corvette that does the same thing for cheaper..
Don't confuse this one with the gen 2, I put a gen 2 in my house this summer and it has almost paid for itself, plus some power companies are offering a $100 rebate for installing smart thermostats, like Georgia power
On a side note, you can't get a raspberry pi for $35, after shipping it is closer to 50. I'd rather use a $20 arduino Leonardo, actually sounds like a good weekend project
what about power failures? there are a number of complaints of this system jeopardizing the house in the event of power failures ending up being completely dead with zero recovery - I guess no vacations for home owners.

This thing is a over-priced in my opinion. You can build this with a $35 raspberry pi.

Sorry I can't leave my $20 M mansion to the mercy of this device if it can't recover and assure me.
There are so many multi-millioners on Bensbargains nowadays. It must be from the savings..
Great unit...Will recommend to anyone who wants to be able to effectively control their Heating/cooling from anywhere. Worth every penny
There is a battery in the devices so it can work w/o power, put how you going to power your furnace fan w/o power anyway...
It's the recovery that is in question - not the fact that there is no furnace no power - insurance companies should take note
